Withdrawal Failing (WF)

Students may receive a "WF" grade in several different ways. Students reported on the Class Roll Audit as "never attended" or "stopped attending" are considered unofficially withdrawn and will receive a "WF". See Class Roll Audit. Students who fail to meet class attendance requirements may be withdrawn from the class by the professor via the on-line Excessive Absence form in ISIS. The grade of "WF" will automatically be assigned to the student. After receipt of the form, the Office of the Registrar will notify the student via their CougarNet email account. Students who withdraw after the deadline to withdraw are assigned a "WF". See Excessive Absence .

Withdrawal from a course

Students who submit a schedule change form to the Office of the Registrar or withdraw on-line using ISIS by the withdrawal deadline as posted in the on-line academic calendar will receive a grade of "W." (Banner shows the 'W' grade as W-PASS, but the transcript will simply show a 'W.") Students who submit the form after the "WP" grade deadline will be assigned a grade of "WF."

A student may appeal the assignment of a "WF" grade by submitting to the Registrar a "WF" Grade Appeal form along with supporting documentation substantiating nonacademic hardship. Appeal forms are available on-line in CougarNet under the Enrollment Services tab.

Advisors should refer students to the Academic Calendar for a notice of the withdrawal deadline for the semester.
